About Belleville Show Kennels
Cathy Thompson-Morgan has owned Norfolk terriers since the late 1980's as pets. The Kennels are shared with Lesley Crawley (Ragus Norwich). Cathy and Lesley are Licensed as breeders with a 5 star rating by Selby District Council (number BREED-180173-C) and until the scheme closed on 1 January 2025 were Assured Breeders holding the Kennel Club's Accolade of Excellence.
Happy, healthy dogs are our priority and all relevant health tests are carried out.
Cathy enjoyed her Norfolks so much that she decided she would like to breed from her pets. Having reared her first litter in the early ‘90s, and being a responsible person, Cathy thought that she should know more about them prior to breeding another litter.
After some research into the breed she joined the Norfolk Terrier Club and attended shows and most importantly talked to experienced breeders and investigated pedigrees. The result was a Champion in her second litter, Ch Belleville Cloudscape. Cloudscape went on to produce Ch Belleville Cloudvoyager who is behind all future Belleville Champions except for his mother and siblings.
The Belleville affix was registered with The Kennel Club in 1994 after the name of the house in which Cathy lived at the time.
To date Cathy has won over 4500 CC's, made up 55 Norfolk Terrier Champions, 16 Norwich Terrier Champions and 7 (and bred 3 more) Portuguese Water Dog Champions. Others have become champions overseas.
Four different Belleville Norfolks have won 6 Groups between them and a Reserve Best in Show at All Breed Championship Shows in the UK. Several others have won Group Placings. One PWD has won a Group and one Norwich has won 2 Groups to date. Both with other group placings.
At the World Dog Show in Helsinki in August 2025 the kennel took BOB and the World Winner Titles in both Norfolk and Norwich Terriers with the Norfolk Ch, Fin Ch WW-25, HeCW-25 Belleville Playmate and the Norwich Ch Tinkave Vibe Setter at Belleville, co owned with his breeder Janet Lazenby.
The Norfolk Ch Belleville Sweet Nothings won Group 2 at Crufts in 2004 having also been Best of Breed and Best Puppy in Breed at Crufts in 2003. Her father Ch Belleville Smart Alec was BOB at Crufts in 2002 and her son Ch Belleville Rumour Nothing did it in 2008. Smart Alec’s Great Grandson, Ch Belleville Burning Passion was BOB at Crufts in 2012 with his sire Ch Belleville Blacklace reserve. In 2013 his half sister Ch Belleville Honey Nut Crunch was BOB and in both 2014 and 2015 his son Ch Belleville Seduction was BOB. Ch, Fin Ch WW-25, HeCW-25 Belleville Playmate is Seduction's grandson.
In September 2008 Portuguese Water Dogs were added to the kennel. Ch Hooligan Meia Noite at Belleville was imported from Arja Koskelo in Finland. By the famous Int Ch Smooth Da Pedra Da Anixa she produced Ch Belleville Anjo De Noite using fresh semen from Finland. Anjo De Noite VW has recently won a CC at almost 11 years old and was Best Veteran In Show at the Scottish Kennel Club Ch Show in May 22, as well as Bath 2024. She loved showing again as a veteran after a 7 year break. Sadly we lost her in January 2025 at the age of 13. She produced Ch, Fin Ch Belleville Anjo Negro who is now the BREED CC RECORD HOLDER. Anjo Negro was Top Working puppy in the UK in 2016 and 2nd Top All Breeds. In 2014 two more Hooligan PWD were imported from Finland, This time by “Mr G” Int Ch Aquafortis Energiser. Ch Hooligan Song for Belleville became the youngest ever UK PWD champion at just 16 months old in 2015.
Eric, Ch, Fin Ch Belleville Anjo Negro is the Breed record holder and Top winning Portuguese Water Dog in the UK for 2018 and 2024. He won the Group at Bath 2024 and has multiple other Group placings. His daughter, Ch Belleville A Song For You was Top PWD in 2022 and also took Group placings. and Cathy and Ed are top PWD breeders 2022, 2023 and 2024.
On a more personal note, Cathy met Ed Morgan in 1999 and they married in April 2002 and have a daughter. In 2007 Cathy Thompson-Morgan became a member of the Kennel Club and In July 2008 became a Kennel Club Assured Breeder. She has been awarded The "Assured Breeder Accolade of Excellence" by the General Committee of the Kennel Club. There were only a dozen Breeders to have been awarded this accolade up to November 2009.
